Wieber Art
Behind the ‘Blue Man’
Will Wieber’s student days at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) were filled with the excitement of the New York Art scene of the 1970’s. Visual Artists, Robert Rauschenberg, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock were gathering in Greenwich Village Cafes. The list of influences is endless….
However, the one artist that had the most influence on Will was the venerable, legendary Jack Potter who ignited a fire in each and every student in his 6 hour Friday foundation course in drawing.
The Blue Man is one of the many drawings from Will’s student days. It is by far one of his most treasured drawing, as it is one of his beloved instructor and mentor, Jack Potter, (1928 - 2002).
